That is wonderful news redvip 2000. It is great that your nephw opened up to you about how he really feels about the organization. It will strengthen his resolve to get out knowing that he can openly talk to you about anything regarding the WT and that he has your support. It is also encouraging to hear that other young ones are talking amongst themselves about the issues that they see are wrong. Here's to his progression out -Leslie-

My nephew is awake!
by redvip2000 inmy 17 year old nephew is visiting from florida and to my surprise, last night in conversation, he revealed that for the last 2 years, he has come to realize that the watchtower society " is a bunch of bs" and that he can see how people are brainwashed in the organization.. interestingly, he has come to realize this, without knowing any of the facts and scandals that we all know about - he simply can see things don't add up.
naturally our conversation progressed to discuss the inconsistencies in the org which he had no idea about, and the flood gates were opened.... he now wants to read the ray franz's books, and get as much information as possible.. he told me that the young people in the hall are beginning to speak to each other about " the issues", while keeping these conversations away from the parent's ears.
sadly, my sister still expects and somewhat forces the kid to attend the meetings, but i told him that he should be wise and patient in the process of stepping away from the cult, to avoid too much collateral damage.. i often feared that the kid would be pressured into being baptized in the cult, but he seems determined to make sure that will never happen.

2 Dubs at the Door
by Farkel intwo dubs are just leaving a door in field service after a householder throughly demolishes one of their doctrines.
one dub says to the other:.
"i hate it when they ask me questions i can't answer, when i've answered them so many times before.".

Finally some pride. Yes no answer much preferred. Near the end I got smart and only pretended to knock (like so many others have admitted to doing) Leslie

Did refusal to Serve in Military prevent U from getting a Passport later?
by nuthouse escapee innot wishing to hijack diest's thread i wanted to ask the above question to those who were affected.
the criminal record you received is terrible in itself, but i wanted to ask if it has affected whether or not you could get a passport.

Thank you to all who commented. I am very glad that blanket pardons were issued. I asked this question because my husband is a long haul truck driver and goes from home (Ontario) to the US every week. He had to pass both a Canadian & US criminal check, (with fingerprints) to get a FAST card to cross the border.
I was very happy to learn that the WT's stupidity didn't permanently interfere with your freedom to travel, especially in view of the information Farkel provided from Marvin's blog spot. How many of the rank & file were ever aware of the WT leaders swearing an oath of allegiance to get a passport. Like everything else, it's okay for them but not anyone else.
The more I learn, the more disgusted I am for ever being a part of this hypocrital organization.Leslie

The Mormon 'Miracle'
by Farkel ini grew up in the mormon state, so i can attest this as true.
the state bird is the seagull, a disgusting, bullying, messy and annoying scavenger.
there are zillions of seagulls around the great salt lake, just a few miles north of salt lake city.. why is it the state bird and why does killing one of those flying rodents bring on a fine of $100?

by flipper in... appreciated !
as some of you know i've been logging my dreams since dec. of 2010 and am up to 184 pages worth now.

Very interesting dream Flipper. I think OTWO is pretty close to it's meaning.
Personally I have very few JW dreams anymore, but when I do they're always the same. I am desperately trying to convince family (even my now deceased parents) TTATT and it always ends the same, nobody listens. I wake up feeling frustrated.

so very true. JWs the masters of deflection. I hated when people didn't follow my 'script'. It totally threw a monkey wrench into everything. I much preferred the "I'm not interested" & subsequent door slamming.

JOB-Was He Used As A Gambling Pawn?
by PaintedToeNail inthe book of job describes a conversation between the devil and jehovah, as everyone knows.
however, satan knew jehovah intimately and would have been well aware of jehovah's ability of foreknowledge.
one would have to imagine that jehovah could have easily just told satan that job would in fact be faithful and therefore spared job the agony he went through, as he had insight because of his foreknowledge that the spirit creatures should have understood.. did jehovah and satan have a high-stakes game going?

Thanks Leolaia, your post explains a lot. Appreciated understanding how Rutherford came up with the vindication scenario. -Leslie-

Speak your mind...
by OneDayillBeFree inthat's something most (if not all jw's) rarely get to do.
and it's something i've started embracing for a while.
at the meeting i was talking to some of the younger crowd and they were expressing their sadness about the congregation splitting.

CONGRATS ODIBF That was excellent. I love how you made reference to the Pharisees without actually saying the GB are like the Pharisees. Planting small seeds is the way to go. You worded it in such a way that if someone were to tell someone what you said, you'd be able to pass it off as they must have misunderstood. -Leslie-
